Say hello to our super-simple summer staple: frozen margaritas made three ways – strawberry, mango, and lime. But, heck, don't let us curb your creativity... You can make these margis with any fruit you like!
We love a good old Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila so we made ours with a good dosing, but if you fancy yourself a bit more of an agave aficionado you'll be pleased to know we have a decent selection of tequilas. Shop them here.
Ingredients
For the simple syrup:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
For the margaritas:
- ½ cup frozen fruit OR 25ml fresh lime juice
- ¼ cup simple syrup (recipe above)
- 90ml Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila
- 30ml Cointreau Orange Liqueur
- 1 cup ice
- lime wedges
- coarse sugar/salt
Method
For the simple syrup:
- Add the cup of water and sugar to a small saucepan and heat over medium heat.
- Whisk while heating and remove from once the sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture is clear.
- Allow to cool to room temperature.
For the margaritas:
- Add the frozen fruit of choice or fresh lime juice, then the simple syrup, tequila, orange liqueur, and ice to a blender (start with less ice than you think – too much ice will make the drink too thick).
- Blend for about 1 minute until completely mixed and no large chunks remain.
- Taste and add more ice or simple syrup as needed.
- Run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass you want to serve out of.
- Dip into a plate of sugar or ground salt.
- Pour the margarita into your glass, add your lime wheel and serve.
