Bellingham is one of the longest-standing names in South African wine, with farming roots in Franschhoek that trace back to 1693. Now part of the broader DGB stable, Bellingham continues to produce a wide range of well-known Cape wines from carefully selected vineyards across the Western Cape.
The Big Oak range is exactly what the name promises — wines built around generous oak ageing, with the wood doing the heavy lifting in shaping a richly textured, full-bodied style. The Big Oak Shiraz captures the warm, plush character of South African Shiraz from sun-soaked vineyards, layered with gentle vanilla, sweet spice and a smooth oak frame.

Nose: Ripe black plum, blackberry, vanilla, sweet baking spice, smoked meat and a hint of black pepper.
Palate: Full-bodied and richly textured, with concentrated dark fruit, soft tannins, vanilla and a savoury peppery edge from the oak influence.
Finish: Long, smooth and gently warming, with lingering black fruit, vanilla and oak spice.
Serving Suggestion: Serve at 16–18 °C in a large red wine glass. A short twenty to thirty minute decant brings out the layered oak and fruit. Big Oak Shiraz is built for slow sipping rather than chugging.
