Pienaar & Son is a small-batch craft distillery in central Cape Town, founded by Andre Pienaar and his son. The team distils each bottle in copper pot stills with a strong focus on character and provenance, and has built a reputation for some of South Africa's most distinctive craft gins.
Orient Gin is the distillery's tribute to the spice-trade routes — a gin layered with Eastern-leaning botanicals like cardamom, star anise, ginger and pink peppercorn alongside the classic juniper backbone. The result is a warm, aromatic, gently spiced gin that drinks beautifully on its own and shines in stirred and warming cocktails.
Tasting Note:
Nose: Bright juniper, cardamom, ginger, citrus peel and a soft floral lift.
Palate: Warm and aromatic with juniper, layered Eastern spice, soft pepper and gentle citrus.
Finish: Long, dry and gently warming, with lingering cardamom, anise and ginger.
